Robert Brooke is responsible for the development and statewide outreach coordination of CIT’s Federal Funding Assistance Program. The main goals of this program are to increase both the awareness and successful participation by Virginia’s technology companies in the SBIR and STTR federal funding programs. These federal grant programs are popular and effective sources of R&D funding assistance for pre start-up, start-up, and early stage tech businesses.
Mr. Brooke has spoken to audiences across the state to promote the benefits of these federal grant programs as well as the assistance available from CIT. He has facilitated the production of more than 30 SBIR Workshops events in Virginia, helping create new workshops to meet the ever changing needs of Virginia’s SBIR community. These events have included introductory SBIR sessions, detailed “how to win” workshops, final prep “Competitive Checklist” workshops, advanced “SBIR-Max” workshops for recent winners, and Virginia’s Annual SBIR Conference
Mr. Brook has also spoken to audiences at various events around the commonwealth and DC metro area, including events hosted by the Mason Enterprise Center, Procurement Technical Assistance Centers, Small Business Development Centers, Fauquier Technology Alliance, Women In Business, Technology Councils, and other business and economic development agencies.
With CIT since 2001, Mr. Brooke has worked closely with small technology firms for more than 14 years. Most recently, he was the Marketing Manager for a unit of L-3 Communications. Prior to that, he worked as the Marketing Program Manager for The ASCII Group, Inc., a national consortium of independent computer resellers, VARs and integrators. While in that capacity, Mr. Brooke coordinated the development of partnership programs, services and training that assisted the competitive business efforts of 1,500-plus small- and medium-sized technology companies.
Mr. Brooke earned a B.S. in Marketing Management at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
