CIT conducts world-class research and development programs that create new industry clusters. To do this, CIT focuses on delivering a strategic direction in areas that will deliver significant economic impact and replace older economies. This includes programs targeted for biotechnology, nanotechnology, information and communications technologies, marine sciences and defense and homeland security markets. In addition to providing strategic guidance, CIT develops and executes world class R&D projects and starts new centers, including the Institute for Defense and Homeland Security.
CIT R&D also supports the Virginia Research and Technology Advisory Commission, which advises the Governor on appropriate research and technology strategies for the Commonwealth. For more information, go to the VRTAC homepage.
